Whitney Point Lake is located north of the city of Binghamton. It is a flood control reservoir created by the Army Corps of
Engineers. The lake is extremely shallow, with deeper areas lying exclusively in the old Otselic River channel. Walleye and
large and small-mouthed bass are the main gamefish. The lake also has a decent population of northern pike. Every winter the
lake is home to a large ice-fishing tournament for crappie, which are abundant and grow to trophy sizes.
